brachi(o)-

An arm.

Latin brachium or Greek brakhiōn, arm.

An ape that is brachiate moves by using the arms to swing from branch to branch; a brachiosaurus (Greek sauros, lizard) was a herbivorous dinosaur with especially long forelegs; a brachiopod (Greek pous, pod‑, foot) is a member of a phylum of marine invertebrates, the lamp shells; brachioplasty (Greek plastos, formed, moulded) is a surgical procedure to tighten the skin of the upper arm; the adjective brachiocephalic refers to the arm and head considered together, especially in the brachiocephalic artery (also called the innominate artery) which feeds blood from the heart to the head, neck and arms.
