A chaeta (plural chaetae) is a stiff bristle made of chitin, especially in an annelid worm; a chaetognath is a member of a small phylum of marine invertebrates with bristles around the mouth; the order Chaetophorales consists of freshwater algae that have slender thread-like flagella.
