This appears in a few common names of trees and shrubs, such as rhododendron (Greek rhodon, rose), a shrub or small tree with large clusters of bell-shaped flowers; philodendron (Greek philos, loving), a tropical American climbing plant; liriodendron (Greek leirion, lily), a tree of a small genus which includes the tulip tree; fremontodendron, a Californian shrub, also called the flannel bush.
