dendro- Also dendri-.
A tree or trees.
[Greek dendron, tree.]
Dendrochronology is a method of dating objects by using the patterns of annual growth rings in timber and tree trunks; dendrology is the scientific study of trees; something dendriform is tree-shaped. Some examples use the branching shape of a tree as an analogy, as in dendrogram, a diagram with branches like a family tree to show relationships, and dendrite, a short branched extension of a nerve cell.
