-en5
Forming diminutives of nouns.
[Old English, of Germanic origin.]
A few examples exist (chicken, kitten, maiden), but the suffix is not active. (Chicken comes from an Old English word that originally meant a young or small bird of the species; chick is an abbreviation of it.)
