-eth2
Forming the third person singular of the present tense of verbs.
[Old English -eth, -ath, -th.]
This ending is archaic, familiar only from older writings, such as the King James Bible: "For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it". For the equivalent second person form, see -est2.
