The only common non-specialist word containing this form is juxtapose (French juxtaposer, from poser, to place) and its derivatives, to place close together for contrasting effect. Other examples are mostly specialist terms in medicine, such as juxta-articular, situated near a joint; juxtaglomerular, denoting a group of structures that secrete hormones into the small artery that leads into a cluster of nerve endings (a glomerulus) in the kidney; juxta-spinal, situated by the side of the spine.
