lopho-

Crested.

Greek lophos, crest.

Terms in lopho‑ are mostly specialist ones in zoology: a lophophore (Greek ‑phoros, ‑phoron, bearing, bearer) is a horseshoe-shaped structure bearing ciliated tentacles around the mouth in certain small marine invertebrates; a bacterium that is lophotrichous has several flagella in a crest or bundle at one end of the cell; an animal that is lophodont (Greek odous, odont‑, tooth) has transverse ridges on the grinding surfaces of its teeth.
