An oleograph is a print textured to resemble an oil painting; something oleaginous is oily or greasy, figuratively obsequious or smarmy; a seed that is oleiferous (Latin -fer, bearing) produces oil; oleic acid is an unsaturated fatty acid present in many fats and soaps. The Latin word oleum is used for a form of concentrated sulphuric acid, because it is an oily liquid.
