Also scyphi‑.
Cup-shaped.
Greek skuphos, cup.
The Scyphozoa are the marine jellyfishes, so named from their shape, and a scyphozoan is a member of that class; a scyphistoma (Greek stoma, mouth) is the polyp-like stage in the life cycle of a jellyfish, while a scyphomedusa is its medusoid phase. A scyphus (plural scyphi) is a cup-shaped part, say of a flower; something scyphate is cup-shaped.
