A tocolytic drug (Greek lusis, loosening) is used to suppress premature labour; a tocodynamometer is an electronic device for monitoring and recording uterine contractions in labour; the tocopherols (Greek pherein, to bear) are a group of closely related compounds, collectively called Vitamin E, needed for normal reproduction and growth; tocology (sometimes spelled tokology) is an uncommon alternative term for obstetrics.
