Colour.

Greek khroma, colour.

A cytochrome (Greek kutos, vessel) is one of several coloured compounds that play an important role in cell respiration; a phytochrome (Greek phuton, a plant) is a blue-green pigment found in plants. Something monochrome (Greek monos, alone) is of a single colour, as opposed to polychrome (Greek polus, much), of many colours.
