chron(o)-

Time.

Greek khronos, time.

Events may be chronological or be listed in date order in a chronology; a related term from the same root is chronicle, a record of events in the order in which they occurred. The adjective chronic is commonly used in medicine for a condition that lasts a long time or constantly recurs (in contrast to acute, of short duration but typically severe). A chronometer is a clock designed to keep accurate time in spite of motion or variations in temperature, humidity, and air pressure, as for example at sea.
