Examples are cytology, the branch of biology that deals with living cells, cytoplasm, material inside a cell but outside the nucleus, and cytoskeleton, a network of protein in the cytoplasm of many cells that gives them shape; cytoarchitecture is the arrangement of cells in a tissue; a cytokine is a type of chemical messenger that acts on other cells; something cytotoxic is poisonous to cells.
