mechano-

Mechanical.

Greek mēkhanē, machine.

A mechanoreceptor is a sense organ or cell that responds to mechanical stimuli such as touch or sound; something mechanosensitive is sensitive to mechanical stimuli, such as the proteins in some cell membranes that open a conductance pore in response to mechanical stress; mechanochemistry is concerned with the direct conversion of chemical energy into mechanical energy; mechanotherapy is the use of mechanical equipment in physiotherapy. Though these and other terms can be hyphenated, such forms are less common.
