Sinology is the study of Chinese language, history, customs, and politics (undertaken by a Sinologist); Sinophobia is a dread or dislike of China and things Chinese. Hyphenated terms usually refer to China in relation to another country: Sino-Japanese, Sino-Soviet, Sino-American. However, Sino-Tibetan refers to a large language family which includes Chinese, Burmese, Tibetan, and others from eastern Asia.
