sterco(r)-

Faeces; dung.

Latin stercus, stercor‑, dung.

Most words in this form are archaic. Exceptions are stercoraceous, consisting of or resembling dung or faeces; stercobilin, the colouring matter of faeces, a breakdown product of the bile pigment bilirubin; the adjective stercoral usually appears in stercoral ulcer, an ulcer of the colon caused by faecal material. The genus of tropical trees, Sterculia, gains its name from the foetid odour of the blossoms or timber of some species.
