-tide

A festival of the Christian Church; a specified time or season.

Old English tīd, time, period, era.

Festivals include Eastertide, the period around Easter; Whitsuntide, the weekend or week including Whit Sunday; Shrovetide, Shrove Tuesday and the two days preceding it; and Ascensiontide, the period of ten days from Ascension Day to Whitsun Eve. These are still in use within the Christian church, but other examples are now only poetic or literary: eventide, noontide, springtide, winter-tide, Yuletide (the Christmas period).
