Greek thērion, wild animal; thēr, beast.

Something theriomorphic (Greek morphē, form) has an animal form; a deity that is therianthropic (Greek anthrōpos, human being) combines the form of an animal with that of a man; a therian is a member of a major group of mammals that comprises the marsupials and placental animals, belonging to the subclass Theria (the plural of thērion). A theropod (Greek pous, pod‑, foot) is a member of a group of carnivorous dinosaurs.
